The student is the one who not only studies but who learns. Who is always ready to explore.
First let’s t see what the student is NOT. The student is not the one who only studies. The student is not the one who reads the subjects and memorizes them for the exams. The student is not the one who focuses on good grades only. The student is not the one whose objective is to get admission in a good school, college or university.
The student is the one who focuses on learning. The student is the one who reads the subjects AND understands them. Who focuses on getting good grades along with improving knowledge. Who not only memorizes the subjects but applies them as needed. The student is the one who remains a student not only till school or graduation but for the lifetime. Who takes every opportunity to learn from wherever possible from whatever is possible.
To become a successful student, one should focus on specific aspects. One of them is a passion for lifelong learning.
The student should focus on additional learning too. While academic study is important and necessary, life's experiences are not taught at any college or university. And, as we all know, experience is the best teacher. Hence, when faced with any problem in life, we can solve it through profound knowledge and intellect rather than science or statistics. We need creativity to bring a solution to any problem. It’s like solving a puzzle. You must use both brains and imagination to think out of the box about the problem.. And for that, the student has to be a good learner.
We may use the best media we have, which is our cell phone, to do this. Rather than merely playing games or updating social media, we may utilise it for more constructive tasks as well. We can, for example, use it to read ebooks. Books are the most productive and knowledge-giving medium. A single book can provide us with many years of experience. An author writes a book after years of experience. And those are the kind of experiences we can have from a book, from a few hundred pages for a little cost. Rather than waiting for a crisis or event to occur in life and then looking for a solution , we can read books and be ready for the event as it occurs. So, in order to become a great student, one must develop the habit of reading every day.
We will discuss more aspects of it in the upcoming blog, where you will get the idea of becoming a great student.
